Review

Samiran Sonowal has released an EP named “This is Life” today, which is a home produced album. Samiran has not spent a huge amount of money making it- he just recorded, mixed, mastered, made the covers etc. all by himself, and hence, it’s not a very high-end product. But for a 14 year old kid like him, it is way beyond good.

The EP is about different situations faced by teenagers today who live in an extraordinary world. And yes, the situations did happen to the artist himself, and all the songs are related directly to Samiran. They’re dedicated to some special part of his life, but due to the privacy concerned, he refrained from giving out any details.

The release is a 5 tracked E.P. The first tracked is named ‘I love you’. It is obviously a love song. The music of the song is beautiful, quite simple and straight, and the vocals are really clean. The simplicity and ease in the vocals gives a more touchy feel to the song which I liked; it makes you feel nostalgic. There is even a possibility that you may get some flashes in slow motion of times spent with your loved one(s) and it may bring a smile on your face.

‘You’ll be missed’ is the next song in the beautiful journey that just started. The music is again real simple and sounds great and feels even better. The emotion of the music is really positive and makes you feel as if  you’re on a journey in a car and the beautiful landscapes are constantly being passed, while moving constantly ahead.

What is waiting next is a piece of music named ‘Goodbye’. This track is slow and mellow. The emotion in the song is a bit sad as the music goes slow and the vocals are low and sad. But somewhere there is a bit of hope in it too. A great song to remember all the things you did before saying goodbye to someone you cared about for a little while.

‘More than a friend’ is the next track.  It is a song about the positive journey in a relationship: how just a friend becomes more attached and now is much more than a friend. A short, sweet song.

The last tack and is a bonus track. It is a acoustic version of the second track, ‘You’ll be missed’. It is more raw, but just as fleeting as the original version.
