Review
Born in 2008, Noyze Akademi are one of the pioneers of heavy metal music in the city of Kolkata, an outfit that has gone through a line-up change last year. Noyze Akademi has emerged after a sabbatical with their newly found enthusiasm for hardcore, experimental metal music. The essence to Noyze Akademi’s musical thrill lies in the fact that the band believes in a whole new version of music. “Liberal Metal” as they put it, is the willingness to accept all genres as a source of influence. It stands as one of strong points of the lineup.

Noyze Akademi defines itself as an essentially hardcore experimental metal outfit, whose libido lays in essential groove-oriented music. Their signature lies in the breakdowns and bodybangs that tear the stage apart. It is groove, groove, groove with some polymetrics thrown in. The band has participated in some national level events like PubRockFest (RSJ), and were called up for GIR, but due to the line-up problem back then they had to decline.
Right now they are bent on performing outside the city of Kolkata to get a taste of music in other parts of the country as well. They have a strong belief that there is an underground metal community everywhere and it has some severely skilled musicians just waiting for an opportunity.
The band’s music is surprisingly melodious, with sudden breakdowns which would urge you to headband until you break your own neck. The sound selection, mainly the patches on the guitars, is perfect for the kind of music they create. I think attending their gig would be completely worth it because of their supreme stage presence. You may even feel that these guys are on steroids by the energy they show on the stage in their set. One great band to look out for with great music. I would really recommend the hardcore metal lovers to dig in their album, when they release it in the future.
The influences of the band are artist like Despised Icon, Meshuggah, Hatebreed, Iwrestledabearonce and Politicians.
