Pakistan-

The young, vital, husky baritone of a great musician rocking the Pakistani as well as international music industry is what Faiza Mujahid befits well in.

Though Faiza happens to believe that she has always been inclined towards singing as it runs in her veins, she never knew she’d consider it as a profession.

She reached the path breaking milestone in her career when renowned film producer Shoaib Mansoor approached her for her vocals in the song ‘Bandya Ho’ in his film Khuda Ke Liye.

Recalling this forever-ingrained memory, Faiza says- “I was jumping with excitement and was delighted. I thought that I would be a star in a day and people will be standing outside my house for autographs”.

But this wasn’t the break Faiza had been looking for. She knew her skies and strived for them, which eventually led to the release of her hit single – ‘Meri Zindagi’ in 2011. Ask her of her beloved muses and she voices her wish of going back in time and working with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Faiza holds deep love for the music of Alanis Morrissette and A. R. Rehman.

You may be interested to know, Faiza released her second song, “Kahan Houn Main” in 2008 which gathered much acclaim. The song was featured in one of the episodes of the popular Indian TV show “MTV Roadies”. She, then took a hiatus from song-writing to become a radio programming producer at Radio 1 FM 91 in 2009 and till early 2011 Faiza was an integral part of the Pakistani music programming at the station and also headed the enterprising Celebrity Camp, a concert for flood victims arranged by her radio station at which she also performed.

Her latest single “Meri Zindagi” is a coming-of-age song for the musician and somewhat introspectively connects to the youth, therefore inspiring them to be more independent in decision making and control of their lives. It seems to be composed of a vision driven from the musician’s own personal experiences and the journey of young rebel, having constantly clashed with tradition and societal expectations, carving out a path for herself.

In addition to ”Meri Zindagi”, Faiza will also be heard on the soundtrack of Shoaib Mansoor’s next feature film, the much anticipated Bol, alongside Atif Aslam and Hadiqa Kiyani for their collaborative song “Hona Tha Pyar”.

Faiza Mujhaid- The name now stands out to be an inspiration to young singers, performers and passionate musicians, not only for the success she has achieved at a young age, but most importantly for standing out stiff for her love for music being a female artist.
The journey of Faiza Mujahid as a musician has been bold and wonderful so far and with such progression in her talent and folio, it could easily be said that sky is the limit for this versatile artist.
